सूत उवाच ॥ सत्यव्रतस्तु तद्भक्त्या कृपया च प्रतिज्ञया ॥ विश्वामित्रकलत्रं च पोषयामास वै तदा ॥ १॥
Suta said:- Satyabrata with devotion and compassion for him and his promise At that time he also raised the wife of Vishvāmitra.
english translation
हत्वा मृगान्वराहांश्च महिषांश्च वनेचरान् ॥ विश्वामित्राश्रमाभ्याशे तन्मांसं चाक्षिपन्मुने ॥ २ ॥
O sage, he killed deer, boars and buffaloes of the forest and he cast off their flesh near the hermitage of Viśvāmitra.
english translation
तीर्थं गां चैव रात्रं च तथैवांतःपुरं मुनिः ॥ याज्योपाध्यायसंयोगाद्वसिष्ठः पर्य्यरक्षत ॥ ३॥
In virtue of his being the priest and the teacher the sage Vasiṣṭha looked after the holy centres, cows, clans and the harem.
english translation
सत्यव्रतस्य वाक्याद्वा भाविनोर्थस्य वै बलात्॥ वसिष्ठोऽभ्यधिकं मन्युं धारयामास नित्यशः॥ ४॥
Vasiṣṭha nursed more and more grudge against Satyavrata forced by the gravity of what was destined to happen.
english translation
पित्रा तु तं तदा राष्ट्रात्परित्यक्तं स्वमात्मजम् ॥ न वारयामास मुनिर्वसिष्ठः कारणेन च ॥ ५॥
Vasiṣṭha had not prevented the father from exiling the son from the kingdom because there was sufficient cause for the same.
