सूत उवाच ॥ मनोर्वैवस्वतस्यासन्पुत्रा वै नव तत्समाः ॥ पश्चान्महोन्नता धीराः क्षत्रधर्मपरायणाः॥ १॥
Sūta said:— Nine sons all equal to him were born of Vaivasvata Manu. Later they became very lofty, bold and devoted to the virtues of Kṣatriyas.
english translation
इक्ष्वाकुः शिबिनाभागौ धृष्टः शर्यातिरेव च ॥ नरिष्यन्तोऽथ नाभागः करूषश्च प्रियव्रतः॥ २॥
They were Ikṣvāku, Śibi, Nābhāga, Dhṛṣṭa, Śaryāti, Nariṣyanta, Nabhaga, Karūṣa and Priyavrata.
english translation
अकरोत्पुत्त्रकामस्तु मनुरिष्टिं प्रजापति॥ अनुत्पन्नेषु पुत्रेषु तत्रेष्ट्यां मुनिपुंगवः॥ ३॥
Desiring to have a son Manu, the creator, performed the sacrifice. The foremost of the ascetics performed the sacrifice when his sons were not born.

सा हि दिव्यांबरधरा दिव्याभरणभूषिता। दिव्यसंहनना चैवमिला जज्ञे हि विश्रुता॥ ४॥
She was dressed in divine clothes and adorned with divine ornaments The divine tolerance of Chavamila was born for she was famous.

तामिडेत्येव होवाच मनुर्दण्डधरस्तथा ॥ अनुगच्छत्व मामेति तमिडा प्रत्युवाच ह ॥ ५॥
Manu, who was holding the rod, said to her, "Tamide. "Follow me," Tamida replied.
