Shiva Purana
सस्त्रीकश्शबरो नाम्ना शंकरश्च शिवव्रती ॥ चिताभस्मरतो भक्त्या लेभे तद्गतिमुत्तमाम् ॥ ३४ ॥
A hunter Śaṅkara performing Śivavrata along with his wife and attached to the Bhasma from the funeral pyre attained the great goal by his devotion.
english translation
sastrIkazzabaro nAmnA zaMkarazca zivavratI ॥ citAbhasmarato bhaktyA lebhe tadgatimuttamAm ॥ 34 ॥
