Shiva Purana
यत्कृत्वा मुच्यते पापैर्वधबंधकृतोद्भवैः ॥ तुलादानं महत्पुण्यं सर्वपापक्षयंकरम् ॥ २६॥
The weighing balance is highly meritorious. It eliminates all sins. On making the gift of it one gets rid of sins arising from slaughter and captivity.

yatkRtvA mucyate pApairvadhabaMdhakRtodbhavaiH ॥ tulAdAnaM mahatpuNyaM sarvapApakSayaMkaram ॥ 26॥
