पुष्पिताः फलवंतश्च तर्पयंतीह मानवान् ।। इह लोके परे चैव पुत्रास्ते धर्मतः स्मृताः ।। २१ ।।

While in bloom or when they bear fruits, the trees delight human beings. They are as sons by way of virtue in this world and hereafter.

puSpitAH phalavaMtazca tarpayaMtIha mAnavAn || iha loke pare caiva putrAste dharmataH smRtAH || 21 ||

तडागकृद्वृक्षरोपी चेष्टयज्ञश्च यो द्विजः ।। एते स्वर्गान्न हीयंते ये चान्ये सत्यवादिनः ।। २२।।

These people never fail to attain heaven—viz. the digger of lakes, the planter of trees, the brahmin who performs sacrifices and those who speak truth.

taDAgakRdvRkSaropI ceSTayajJazca yo dvijaH || ete svargAnna hIyaMte ye cAnye satyavAdinaH || 22||

सत्यमेव परं ब्रह्म सत्यमेव परं तपः ।। सत्यमेव परो यज्ञस्सत्यमेव परं श्रुतम् ।। २३।।

Truth alone is the great Brahman, the greatest penance (tapas), the greatest sacrifice and the greatest learning.

satyameva paraM brahma satyameva paraM tapaH || satyameva paro yajJassatyameva paraM zrutam || 23||

सत्यं सुप्तेषु जागर्ति सत्यं च परमं पदम् ।। सत्येनैव धृता पृथ्वी सत्ये सर्वं प्रतिष्ठितम् ।। २४।।

When others sleep, truth is wakeful. Truth is the greatest base, it is truth alone by which the earth is sustained, everything is founded in truth.

english translation

satyaM supteSu jAgarti satyaM ca paramaM padam || satyenaiva dhRtA pRthvI satye sarvaM pratiSThitam || 24||

ततो यज्ञश्च पुण्यं च देवर्षिपितृपूजने ।। आपो विद्या च ते सर्वे सर्वं सत्ये प्रतिष्ठितम् ।। २५।।

Penance, sacrifice, merit, the worship of the gods, sages and the Pitṛs, the waters, theVidyās—all these things are established in truth.

english translation

tato yajJazca puNyaM ca devarSipitRpUjane || Apo vidyA ca te sarve sarvaM satye pratiSThitam || 25||
