सत्क्रियो ह्यशुचिर्नित्यं स पुमान् यः स्त्रिया जितः ॥ निन्दन्ति पितरो देवा मान वास्सकलाश्च तम्॥२१॥
Even if he performs holy rites, a person succumbing to the viles of women is always impure. The manes, the gods and all men despise him.
english translation
satkriyo hyazucirnityaM sa pumAn yaH striyA jitaH ॥ nindanti pitaro devA mAna vAssakalAzca tam॥21॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्य किं ज्ञान सुतपो जपहोमप्रपूजनैः ॥ विद्यया दानतः किम्वा स्त्रीभिर्यस्य मनो हृतम् ॥ २२ ॥
Of what avail is knowledge, penance, repetition of sacred mantras, sacrifice, adoration, learning and charitable gift to him who is henpecked?
english translation
tasya kiM jJAna sutapo japahomaprapUjanaiH ॥ vidyayA dAnataH kimvA strIbhiryasya mano hRtam ॥ 22 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमातरं मां स्त्रियो भावं कृत्वा येन ब्रवीषि ह ॥ भविष्यति क्षयस्तेन कालेन मम शापतः ॥२३॥
Since you spoke to me viewing me with the feelings that I am your wife although I ought to have been viewed as your mother, you will have a gradual decline as a result of my curse.
english translation
mAtaraM mAM striyo bhAvaM kRtvA yena bravISi ha ॥ bhaviSyati kSayastena kAlena mama zApataH ॥23॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवसिष्ठ उवाच ॥ श्रुत्वा धर्मस्सतीशापं नृप मूर्तिं विहाय च ॥ धृत्वा स्वमूर्तिं देवेशः कम्पमान उवाच सः ॥ २४ ॥
Vasiṣtha Said: On hearing the curse of the chaste woman, O lord of mountains, Dharma cast off the guise of a king and assumed his real form. Tremblingly he spoke thus:

vasiSTha uvAca ॥ zrutvA dharmassatIzApaM nRpa mUrtiM vihAya ca ॥ dhRtvA svamUrtiM devezaH kampamAna uvAca saH ॥ 24 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptधर्म उवाच ॥ मातर्जानीहि मां धर्मं ज्ञानिनाञ्च गुरो र्गुरुम् ॥ परस्त्रीमातृबुद्धिश्च कुव्वर्न्तं सततं सति ॥२५॥
Dharma said: O mother, know me as Dharma elderly and venerable to men of wisdom and preceptors. O chaste lady, I always consider other’s wives as mothers.
