॥ ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ ब्राह्मणस्य वचः श्रुत्वा मेनोवाच हिमालयम् ॥ शोकेनासाधुनयना हृदयेन विदूयता ॥ १ ॥

Brahmā said: On hearing the words of the brahmin, Menā spoke to Himavat with tears welling up in her eyes, due to grief and with. the heart extremely dejected.
