ब्रह्मोवाच ।। कस्त्वं वदेति हस्तेन समुत्थाप्य सनातनम् ।। तदा हस्तप्रहारेण तीव्रेण सुदृढेन तु ।। २३ ।।

sanskrit

Brahmā said: Who are you? Please tell me”, saying this I tried to wake the Eternal Being. [When he did not wake up] I tried to wake him up with fiercer and firmer beatings of the hand.

english translation

brahmovAca || kastvaM vadeti hastena samutthApya sanAtanam || tadA hastaprahAreNa tIvreNa sudRDhena tu || 23 ||
