प्रथमं दक्षपुत्री सा पश्चात्सा पर्वतात्मजा ॥ कथमेकशरीरेण द्वयोरप्यात्मजा मता॥६॥
First, she was the daughter of Daksha, and later, she became the daughter of Parvatī (the Mountain Lord). How could she be considered the daughter of both, in a single body, when both were regarded as her divine parents?
english translation
कथं सती पार्वती सा पुनश्शिवमुपागता ॥ एतत्सर्वं तथान्यच्च ब्रह्मन् गदितुमर्हसि ॥७॥
How did Sati, who became Parvati, return to Shiva again? O Brahman (Brahmā), you are worthy to explain all this, and anything else related to it.
english translation
सूत उवाच ॥ इति तस्य वचः श्रुत्वा सुरर्षेः शंकरात्मनः ॥ प्रसन्नमानसो भूत्वा ब्रह्मा वचनमब्रवीत् ॥ ८ ॥
Sūta said: On hearing these words of the celestial sage devoted to Śiva, Brahmā became delighted and said again.
english translation
ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ शृणु तात मुनिश्रेष्ठ कथयामि कथां शुभाम् ॥ यां श्रुत्वा सफलं जन्म भविष्यति न संशयः॥९॥
Brahmā said: O best of sages, dear one, listen. I shall narrate the auspicious story on hearing which undoubtedly the life will become fruitful.
english translation
पुराहं स्वसुतां दृष्ट्वा संध्याह्वां तनयैस्सह ॥ अभवं विकृतस्तात कामबाणप्रपीडितः ॥ 2-2-1-१० ॥
Formerly, on seeing my daughter Sandhyā in the company of my sons I was afflicted by the arrows of the cupid and much upset.
