सनत्कुमार उवाच ॥ तत्र स्थित्वा दानवेन्द्रो महान्तं दानवेश्वरम् ॥ दूतं कृत्वा महाविज्ञं प्रेषयामास शंकरम् ॥ १ ॥
Sanatkumāra said: Stationing himself there, the lord of Dānavas sent a leading Dānava of great knowledge as his emissary to Śiva.
english translation
sanatkumAra uvAca ॥ tatra sthitvA dAnavendro mahAntaM dAnavezvaram ॥ dUtaM kRtvA mahAvijJaM preSayAmAsa zaMkaram ॥ 1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस तत्र गत्वा दूतश्च चन्द्रभालं ददर्श ह ॥ वटमूले समासीनं सूर्यकोटिसमप्रभम् ॥२॥
The emissary went there and saw the moon-crested lord Śiva, of the refulgence of a crore suns, seated at the root of the Banyan tree.
english translation
sa tatra gatvA dUtazca candrabhAlaM dadarza ha ॥ vaTamUle samAsInaM sUryakoTisamaprabham ॥2॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकृत्वा योगासनं दृष्ट्या मुद्रायुक्तं च सस्मितम् ॥ शुद्धस्फटिकसंकाशं ज्वलंतं ब्रह्मतेजस ॥ ३ ॥
He saw him sitting in a yogic pose, showing the mystic gesture with his eyes, with a smiling face and body as pure as crystal and blazing with transcendent splendour.
english translation
kRtvA yogAsanaM dRSTyA mudrAyuktaM ca sasmitam ॥ zuddhasphaTikasaMkAzaM jvalaMtaM brahmatejasa ॥ 3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptत्रिशूलपट्टिशधरं व्याघ्रचर्मांबरावृतम् ॥ भक्तमृत्युहरं शांतं गौरीकान्तं त्रिलोचनम् ॥ ४ ॥
He who holds a trident and spear, clothed in tiger skin, the remover of devotees’ death, peaceful, beloved of Gauri (Parvati), and three-eyed.
english translation
trizUlapaTTizadharaM vyAghracarmAMbarAvRtam ॥ bhaktamRtyuharaM zAMtaM gaurIkAntaM trilocanam ॥ 4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतपसां फलदातारं कर्त्तारं सर्वसंपदाम् ॥ आशुतोषं प्रसन्नास्य भक्तानुग्रहकारकम् ॥५॥
The giver of the fruits of austerities, the creator of all wealth and prosperity, easily pleased (Āśutoṣa), with a smiling face, bestower of grace upon devotees.

tapasAM phaladAtAraM karttAraM sarvasaMpadAm ॥ AzutoSaM prasannAsya bhaktAnugrahakArakam ॥5॥
