रात्रिरुवाच ।। न चक्रुर्बालकं ताश्च लोचनानामगोचरम् ।। प्राणेभ्योपि प्रीतिपात्रं यः पोष्टा तस्य पुत्रकः ।। ३१ ।।

sanskrit

The night said: They never let the boy go out of their sight. He is the object of their love, dearer to them than their own lives. Verily he who nurtures, possesses the son.

english translation

rAtriruvAca || na cakrurbAlakaM tAzca locanAnAmagocaram || prANebhyopi prItipAtraM yaH poSTA tasya putrakaH || 31 ||
