प्रातःकाले समुत्थाय मुहूर्ते ब्रह्मसंज्ञके।। गुरोश्च स्मरणं कृत्वा शंभोश्चैव तथा पुनः ।।१६।।

In the early morning, upon rising at the auspicious moment known as Brahma-muhurta, one should remember the Guru and also invoke Lord Shambhu (Shiva) again.

english translation

prAtaHkAle samutthAya muhUrte brahmasaMjJake|| gurozca smaraNaM kRtvA zaMbhozcaiva tathA punaH ||16||

तीर्थानां स्मरणं कृत्वा ध्यानं चैव हरेरपि ।। ममापि निर्जराणां वै मुन्यादीनां तथा मुने।१७।।

After remembering the holy places (tīrthas) and meditating upon Lord Hari (Vishnu), one should also reflect upon the great sages and holy individuals, including myself, the muni (sage).

english translation

tIrthAnAM smaraNaM kRtvA dhyAnaM caiva harerapi || mamApi nirjarANAM vai munyAdInAM tathA mune|17||

ततः स्तोत्रं शुभं नाम गृह्णीयाद्विधिपूर्वकम् ।। ततोत्थाय मलोत्सर्गं दक्षिणस्यां चरेद्दिशि ।। १८ ।।

Then, one should recite an auspicious prayer (stotra) with the proper procedure. Afterward, rising, one should perform a ritual cleansing and proceed to the southern direction (or the appropriate direction).

tataH stotraM zubhaM nAma gRhNIyAdvidhipUrvakam || tatotthAya malotsargaM dakSiNasyAM careddizi || 18 ||

एकान्ते तु विधिं कुर्यान्मलोत्सर्गस्स यच्छ्रुतम् ।। तदेव कथयाम्यद्य शृण्वाधाय मनो मुने।।१९।।

The evacuation of the bowels shall be done in an isolated place. What I have heard (in this respect) I am mentioning now. O sage, please listen attentively.

ekAnte tu vidhiM kuryAnmalotsargassa yacchrutam || tadeva kathayAmyadya zRNvAdhAya mano mune||19||

शुद्धां मृदं द्विजो लिप्यात्पंचवारं विशुद्धये ।। क्षत्रियश्च चतुर्वारं वैश्यो वरत्रयं तथा ।।2.1.11.२०।।

A brahmin shall use earth for cleaning purposes five times; a Kṣatriya for four times and a Vaiśya for three times.

english translation

zuddhAM mRdaM dvijo lipyAtpaMcavAraM vizuddhaye || kSatriyazca caturvAraM vaizyo varatrayaM tathA ||2.1.11.20||
