वत्स उवाच ॥ कथं च रुद्यते मातः किन्ते दुःखमुपस्थितम्॥ तन्निवेदय मे प्रीत्या तच्छ्रुत्वा गौरवोचत॥ ९॥

sanskrit

The calf said:— “O mother, why do you cry? What is the misery that has befallen you? Please tell me lovingly.” On hearing this, the cow said.

english translation

vatsa uvAca ॥ kathaM ca rudyate mAtaH kinte duHkhamupasthitam॥ tannivedaya me prItyA tacchrutvA gauravocata॥ 9॥
