वत्स उवाच ।। कथं च रुद्यते मातः किन्ते दुःखमुपस्थितम्।। तन्निवेदय मे प्रीत्या तच्छ्रुत्वा गौरवोचत।। ९।।

sanskrit

The calf said:— “O mother, why do you cry? What is the misery that has befallen you? Please tell me lovingly.” On hearing this, the cow said.

english translation

vatsa uvAca || kathaM ca rudyate mAtaH kinte duHkhamupasthitam|| tannivedaya me prItyA tacchrutvA gauravocata|| 9||
