ऊर्ध्वपुच्छं तदा कृत्वा शीघ्रं गौर्नर्मदां प्रति ॥ आगत्य नन्दिकस्यास्य समीपे नर्मदाजले ॥ ५१ ॥
Then the cow quickly turned her tail upwards towards the Narmada Arriving near this Nandi in the waters of the Narmada.
english translation
UrdhvapucchaM tadA kRtvA zIghraM gaurnarmadAM prati ॥ Agatya nandikasyAsya samIpe narmadAjale ॥ 51 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंनिमज्य त्रिवारं तु श्वेतत्वं च गता हि सा ॥ यथागतं गता सा च ब्राह्मणो विस्मयं गतः ॥ ५२ ॥
After soaking it three times she turned white She went as she had come and the brahmin was astonished.
english translation
saMnimajya trivAraM tu zvetatvaM ca gatA hi sA ॥ yathAgataM gatA sA ca brAhmaNo vismayaM gataH ॥ 52 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअहो धन्यतमं तीर्थं ब्रह्महत्यानिवारणम् ॥ स्वयं ममज्ज तत्रासौ ब्राह्मणस्सेवकस्तथा ॥ ५३ ॥
Ah, blessed indeed is this holy centre that removes the sin of Brahmin-slaughter. The brahmin and the servant took their baths there.
english translation
aho dhanyatamaM tIrthaM brahmahatyAnivAraNam ॥ svayaM mamajja tatrAsau brAhmaNassevakastathA ॥ 53 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनिमज्ज्य हि गतौ तौ च प्रशंसन्तौ नदी च ताम् ॥ मार्गे च मिलिता काचित्सुन्दरी भूषणान्विता ॥ ५४ ॥
After the holy dip they started on their journey praising the river. On the way they met a beautiful maiden fully bedecked in ornaments.

nimajjya hi gatau tau ca prazaMsantau nadI ca tAm ॥ mArge ca militA kAcitsundarI bhUSaNAnvitA ॥ 54 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतयोक्तं तं च भोः पांथ कुतो यासि सुविस्मितः ॥ सत्यं ब्रूहि च्छलं त्यक्त्वा विप्रवर्य ममाग्रतः ॥ ५५॥
She said:— “O brahmin-traveller where do you go in such bewilderment? Eschewing all deceit tell me the truth here.

tayoktaM taM ca bhoH pAMtha kuto yAsi suvismitaH ॥ satyaM brUhi cchalaM tyaktvA vipravarya mamAgrataH ॥ 55॥
