तन्नाभिकमले यो वै जातस्स च पितामहः ॥ तेनैव तपसा दृष्टस्स वै विष्णुरुदाहृतः ॥ ६॥
He who was born of his umbilical lotus was Pitāmaha. He who was seen by him through penance is said to be Viṣṇu.
english translation
उभयोर्वादशमने यद्रूपं स दर्शितं बुधाः ॥ महादेवेति विख्यातं निर्गुणेन शिवेन हि ॥ ७ ॥
The form that was revealed by Nirguṇa Śiva at the time of subduing the dispute between the two is, O learned ones, famous as Mahādeva.
english translation
तेन प्रोक्तमहं शम्भुर्भविष्यामि कभालतः ॥ रुद्रो नाम स विख्यातो लोकानुग्रहकारकः ॥ ८ ॥
This was said by him, “I will be Śiva with fire in my forehead.” He became famous by the name Rudra. He is the cause of blessing the worlds.

ध्यानार्थं चैव सर्वेषामरूपो रूपवानभूत् ॥ स एव च शिवस्साक्षाद्भक्तवात्सल्यकारकः ॥ ९ ॥
The formless one became one with forms in order to facilitate meditation. He alone is Śiva himself, favourably disposed towards his devotees.
english translation
शिवे त्रिगुणसम्भिन्ने रुद्रे तु गुणधामनि ॥ वस्तुतो न हि भेदोऽस्ति स्वर्णे तद्भूषणे यथा ॥ १० ॥
Essentially there is no difference between Śiva who is different from the three Guṇas and Rudra the abode of Guṇas, as in the case of gold and an ornament made thereof.
