तथापि धर्म्मरक्षायै लोकानुग्रहकांक्षया॥ त्वादृशा साधवस्सन्तो विचरन्ति महीतले॥ ४१॥
Still saintly men like you move about in the world for upholding virtue and blessing the worlds.
english translation
श्रोतव्यमस्ति चेद्ब्रह्मन्वक्तुमर्हसि साम्प्रतम्॥ तदिदानीमहं वक्ष्ये लोकानुग्रहहे तवे॥ ४२॥
O Brahmin, if it is fit to be heard you shall speak it out. I shall expound it to the people for their welfare.
english translation
इति स्कन्दवचः श्रुत्वा वामदेवो महामुनिः॥ प्रश्रयावनतः प्राह मेघगम्भीरया गिरा ॥ ४३॥
On hearing the words of Skanda, the sage Vāmadeva, bowed with humility and spoke in a tone as majestic as the sound of clouds.
english translation
वामदेव उवाच ॥। भगवन्परमेशस्त्वं परापरविभूतिदः ॥ सर्व्वज्ञसर्वकर्त्ता च सर्व्वशक्तिधरः प्रभुः ॥ ४४॥
Vāmadeva said:— O lord, you are the great Īśa (parameśa), the bestower of prosperity to all and sundry. You are omniscient; creator of all and the lord bearing all Śaktis.
english translation
जीवा वयं तु ते वक्तुं सन्निधौ परमेशितुः ॥ तथाप्यनुग्रहो यन्ते यत्त्वं वदसि मां प्रति ॥ ४५ ॥
We are insignificant creatures to speak before you who are a great lord. Still it is your blessing that you speak to me.
