दू॒तं वो॑ वि॒श्ववे॑दसं हव्य॒वाह॒मम॑र्त्यम् । यजि॑ष्ठमृञ्जसे गि॒रा ॥ दूतं वो विश्ववेदसं हव्यवाहममर्त्यम् । यजिष्ठमृञ्जसे गिरा ॥

sanskrit

I propitiate you with praise, the messenger (of the gods), the omniscient, the bearer of oblations, the immortal, the chief sacrificer.

english translation

dU॒taM vo॑ vi॒zvave॑dasaM havya॒vAha॒mama॑rtyam | yaji॑SThamRJjase gi॒rA || dUtaM vo vizvavedasaM havyavAhamamartyam | yajiSThamRJjase girA ||

स हि वेदा॒ वसु॑धितिं म॒हाँ आ॒रोध॑नं दि॒वः । स दे॒वाँ एह व॑क्षति ॥ स हि वेदा वसुधितिं महाँ आरोधनं दिवः । स देवाँ एह वक्षति ॥

sanskrit

The mighty one knows how to bestow the (desired) wealth (upon the worshipper); he knows the ascents of heaven; may he bring the gods hither.

english translation

sa hi vedA॒ vasu॑dhitiM ma॒hA~ A॒rodha॑naM di॒vaH | sa de॒vA~ eha va॑kSati || sa hi vedA vasudhitiM mahA~ ArodhanaM divaH | sa devA~ eha vakSati ||

स वे॑द दे॒व आ॒नमं॑ दे॒वाँ ऋ॑ताय॒ते दमे॑ । दाति॑ प्रि॒याणि॑ चि॒द्वसु॑ ॥ स वेद देव आनमं देवाँ ऋतायते दमे । दाति प्रियाणि चिद्वसु ॥

He, the divine (Agni), knows how the gods are to be reverenced; to the sincere (worshipper) in his dwelling he gives wealth that is desired.

He is the invoker (of the gods), comprehending the deity of (their) messenger; and, knowing the ascent of the sky, he travels between earth and heaven.

sa hotA॒ sedu॑ dU॒tyaM॑ ciki॒tvA~ a॒ntarI॑yate | vi॒dvA~ A॒rodha॑naM di॒vaH || sa hotA sedu dUtyaM cikitvA~ antarIyate | vidvA~ ArodhanaM divaH ||

May we be they who propitiate Agni with gifts of oblations, and who, cherishing him, feed him with fuel.

te syA॑ma॒ ye a॒gnaye॑ dadA॒zurha॒vyadA॑tibhiH | ya IM॒ puSya॑nta indha॒te || te syAma ye agnaye dadAzurhavyadAtibhiH | ya IM puSyanta indhate ||
