ओष्ठा॑विव॒ मध्वा॒स्ने वद॑न्ता॒ स्तना॑विव पिप्यतं जी॒वसे॑ नः । नासे॑व नस्त॒न्वो॑ रक्षि॒तारा॒ कर्णा॑विव सु॒श्रुता॑ भूतम॒स्मे ॥ ओष्ठाविव मध्वास्ने वदन्ता स्तनाविव पिप्यतं जीवसे नः । नासेव नस्तन्वो रक्षितारा कर्णाविव सुश्रुता भूतमस्मे ॥
Like two lips uttering sweet words, like two breasts yielding nourishment for our existence; be to us like two noses, preserving our person ns, and like two ears for the hearing of agreeable (sounds).
english translation
हस्ते॑व श॒क्तिम॒भि सं॑द॒दी न॒: क्षामे॑व न॒: सम॑जतं॒ रजां॑सि । इ॒मा गिरो॑ अश्विना युष्म॒यन्ती॒: क्ष्णोत्रे॑णेव॒ स्वधि॑तिं॒ सं शि॑शीतम् ॥ हस्तेव शक्तिमभि संददी नः क्षामेव नः समजतं रजांसि । इमा गिरो अश्विना युष्मयन्तीः क्ष्णोत्रेणेव स्वधितिं सं शिशीतम् ॥
Like two hands, Aśvins, be ever investing us with vigour; like heaven and earth, bestow upon us rain; give sharpness to the praises that are addressed to you, as they whet an axe upon a grindstone.
english translation
ए॒तानि॑ वामश्विना॒ वर्ध॑नानि॒ ब्रह्म॒ स्तोमं॑ गृत्सम॒दासो॑ अक्रन् । तानि॑ नरा जुजुषा॒णोप॑ यातं बृ॒हद्व॑देम वि॒दथे॑ सु॒वीरा॑: ॥ एतानि वामश्विना वर्धनानि ब्रह्म स्तोमं गृत्समदासो अक्रन् । तानि नरा जुजुषाणोप यातं बृहद्वदेम विदथे सुवीराः ॥
The Gṛtsamadas have composed this prayer, these praises, Aśvins, for your exaltation; be propitiated by them, leaders of ceremonies, and come hither; that, blessed with excellent descendants, we may worthily glorify you at this sacrifice.
