Phaladeepika
जातो गच्छति येन केन मरणं वक्ष्येऽथ तत्कारणं रन्ध्रस्थैस्तदवेक्षर्कैर्बलवता तस्योक्तरोगैमृतिः । रन्धर्क्षोक्तरुजाथवा मृतपतिप्राप्तर्क्षदोषेण वा रन्ध्रेशेन खरत्रिभागपतिना मृत्युं वदेन्निश्चितम् ॥ १२॥
I now proceed to explain the manner in which a person meets with his death, and the cause of the same. If there are planets occupying or aspecting the 8 th house, death is caused through diseases pertaining to the strongest of them; or (if there be no planets occupying or aspecting the 8 th house) through diseases declared for that house or for the house in which the lord of the 8 th is placed ; and (where the foregoing tests do not apply) it may be predicted with certainty that death will be caused either by the lord of the 8 th house or by the lord of the 22 nd decanate (counted from the Lagna decanate).

jAto gacchati yena kena maraNaM vakSye'tha tatkAraNaM randhrasthaistadavekSarkairbalavatA tasyoktarogaimRtiH । randharkSoktarujAthavA mRtapatiprAptarkSadoSeNa vA randhrezena kharatribhAgapatinA mRtyuM vadennizcitam ॥ 12॥
