द्रष्टृदृश्ययोः संयोगो हेयहेतुः ॥२-१७॥

Uniting the seer or the subject with the seen or the object, is the cause of that which has to be avoided.

english translation

द्रष्टा और दृश्य का संयोग अर्थात जीवात्मा और प्रकृत्ति का आपस में जो अज्ञानता पूर्ण सम्बन्ध है उक्त दु:ख का कारण है ।
