वनस्पतीनां सर्वेषामुपभोगो यथा यथा । यथा तथा दमः कार्यो हिंसायामिति धारणा ॥ २८५ ॥

According to the usefulness of the several (kinds of) trees a fine must be inflicted for injuring them; that is the settled rule.

english translation

vanaspatInAM sarveSAmupabhogo yathA yathA | yathA tathA damaH kAryo hiMsAyAmiti dhAraNA || 285 ||
