निरादिष्टधनश्चेत् तु प्रतिभूः स्यादलन्धनः । स्वधनादेव तद् दद्यान्निरादिष्ट इति स्थितिः ॥ १६२ ॥

sanskrit

If the surety had received money (from him for whom he stood bail) and had money enough (to pay), then (the heir of him) who received it, shall pay (the debt) out of his property; that is the settled rule.

english translation

nirAdiSTadhanazcet tu pratibhUH syAdalandhanaH | svadhanAdeva tad dadyAnnirAdiSTa iti sthitiH || 162 ||
