Manusmriti
सङ्ग्रामेष्वनिवर्तित्वं प्रजानां चैव पालनम् । शुश्रूषा ब्राह्मणानां च राज्ञां श्रेयस्करं परम् ॥ ८८ ॥
Not to turn back in battle, to protect the people, to honour the Brahmanas, is the best means for a king to secure happiness.

saGgrAmeSvanivartitvaM prajAnAM caiva pAlanam । zuzrUSA brAhmaNAnAM ca rAjJAM zreyaskaraM param ॥ 88 ॥
