योऽनधीत्य द्विजो वेदमन्यत्र कुरुते श्रमम् । स जीवन्नेव शूद्रत्वमाशु गच्छति सान्वयः ॥ १६८ ॥

sanskrit

A twice-born man who, not having studied the Veda, applies himself to other (and worldly study), soon falls, even while living, to the condition of a Sudra and his descendants (after him).

english translation

yo'nadhItya dvijo vedamanyatra kurute zramam । sa jIvanneva zUdratvamAzu gacchati sAnvayaH ॥ 168 ॥
