नारुन्तुदः स्यादार्तोऽपि न परद्रोहकर्मधीः । ययाऽस्योद्विजते वाचा नालोक्यां तामुदीरयेत् ॥ १६१ ॥

Let him not, even though in pain, (speak words) cutting (others) to the quick; let him not injure others in thought or deed; let him not utter speeches which make (others) afraid of him, since that will prevent him from gaining heaven.

english translation

सम्मानाद् ब्राह्मणो नित्यमुद्विजेत विषादिव । अमृतस्येव चाकाङ्क्षेदवमानस्य सर्वदा ॥ १६२ ॥

A Brahmana should always fear homage as if it were poison; and constantly desire (to suffer) scorn as (he would long for) nectar.

english translation

सुखं ह्यवमतः शेते सुखं च प्रतिबुध्यते । सुखं चरति लोके'स्मिन्नवमन्ता विनश्यति ॥ १६३ ॥

For he who is scorned (nevertheless may) sleep with an easy mind, awake with an easy mind, and with an easy mind walk here among men; but the scorner utterly perishes.

english translation

अनेन क्रमयोगेन संस्कृतात्मा द्विजः शनैः । गुरौ वसन् सञ्चिनुयाद् ब्रह्माधिगमिकं तपः ॥ १६४ ॥

A twice-born man who has been sanctified by the (employment of) the means, (described above) in due order, shall gradually and cumulatively perform the various austerities prescribed for (those who) study the Veda.

english translation

तपोविशेषैर्विविधैर्व्रतैश्च विधिचोदितैः । वेदः कृत्स्नोऽधिगन्तव्यः सरहस्यो द्विजन्मना ॥ १६५ ॥

An Aryan must study the whole Veda together with the Rahasyas, performing at the same time various kinds of austerities and the vows prescribed by the rules (of the Veda).
