दुःखानि हि महात्मानः पराप्नुवन्ति युधिष्ठिर देवैर अपि हि दुःखानि पराप्तानि जगतीपते ॥ ५-८-३६ ॥
‘O Yudhishthira, high-minded souls must endure miseries of many kinds; even the gods themselves, O king, have suffered misfortunes.’ ॥ 5-8-36 ॥

‘O king, O descendant of Bharata, it is told that the high-minded Indra, chief of the celestials, had to endure, together with his consort, very great suffering indeed.’ ॥ 5-8-37 ॥
