ते वै पिपीलिकं नाम वरदत्तं पिपीलिकैः जातरूपं दरॊण मेयम अहार्षुः पुञ्जशॊ नृपाः ॥ २-४८-४ ॥
'They brought heaps of gold as tribute. This gold, measured in jars (dronas), was extracted from beneath the earth by ants and thus named after these creatures.' ॥ 2-48-4 ॥
english translation
te vai pipIlikaM nAma varadattaM pipIlikaiH jAtarUpaM daròNa meyama ahArSuH puJjazò nRpAH ॥ 2-48-4 ॥
