Jyotish is a traditional framework for studying the heavens at a particular birth moment. A chart is a compact visual grammar: it places grahas within rashis and houses so that relationships can be read across a shared set of conventions. The chart makes that calculation available for study.
The Birth Moment
Date, time, and place establish the astronomical position from which a chart is calculated. Timezone and locality are therefore not incidental form fields. They are part of the reference itself and we keeps those particulars traceable whenever its placements are considered.
Grahas, Rashis, and Houses
Grahas, rashis, and houses are distinct parts of the chart’s language. Grahas mark the planetary bodies used by the tradition; rashis provide the zodiacal field; houses organise the chart from the lagna, or ascendant. A reader should be able to distinguish these categories before drawing connections between them. Sanskrit names are primary terms, with option to show them in Devanagari script. English names can also be shown.
One Calculation, Several Conventions
Divisional charts examine the same birth calculation through further traditional divisions. Partner study places two consented sets of details side by side, allowing tools such as Mangal Dosha and AshtaKuta to be inspected as defined comparisons. North Indian and South Indian charts are different diagrams for the same placements.
