Panchang is the traditional Indian almanac: a way of describing a day through the changing relationships of the Sun, Moon, and the observer’s place on Earth.
The Five Parts or pañc āṅga
The name Panchang means “five parts.” A daily reading brings together tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga, and karana. Together they give the traditional character of a particular day.
Importance of Location
The same date may have different boundaries for different places. Sunrise, lunar transitions, and observances are calculated from a location, so place is crucial part of the calculations.
Vikram Samvat Calendar
The daily calendar view shows a large lunar Vedic calendar with seasonal variations. Also, a month view offers a broad overview of a selected month.
