Vishwakarma is revered as the God of 'creation' in the Hindu scriptures. He is the architect of several important tools and cities. The city of Lanka was also built by Vishwakarma.
We named our design system after the revered Hindu God to reflect on our vision of having a design system that works across devices. It is designed to provide best-in-class UI/UX experience in both dark and light modes. There are several tools that we built from scratch to provide a beautiful reading experience for our readers.
Base UI primitves are used for the web interface which provide excellent WAI-ARIA and keyboard navigation support. For Indic scripts, the historic and venerable Adishila fonts are used. Wherever possible we have also provided transliterations for names in Sanskrit. This has been a key focus to enhance the readability as well as providing a way to learn and understand pronunciation.
Core Philosophy
Simple and Minimalist
Reading Indic literature in native scripts can be challenging on modern digital displays. Our design system is intentionally simple and unobtrusive, allowing the content to remain the primary focus. Every element is designed with purpose, using thoughtful spacing and clean typography to create a comfortable reading experience.
Consistent and Familiar
Our readers access the platform from a wide range of devices and geographic regions. The interface is designed to feel familiar and intuitive across every platform, enabling users to discover and use our tools naturally without a steep learning curve.
Fast and Delightful
Every interaction, navigation, and page transition is designed to feel instantaneous. Readers should never be interrupted by unnecessary loading states or delays. The platform responds as quickly as users think and act, enabling an uninterrupted research and reading experience.
Always at the Cutting Edge
We continuously evolve the design system by embracing modern UI and UX standards while maintaining broad compatibility across devices. Every feature is thoroughly tested with full support for both light and dark themes, ensuring a polished and consistent experience for all readers.
