सौक्ष्म्यादौष्ण्याल्लघुत्वाच्चसौगन्ध्याच्चरुचिप्रदम्। सौवर्चलंविबन्धघ्नंहृद्यमुद्गारशोधिच ॥३०१॥
The sanchal salt is subtle, hot, light, fragrant, relishing, removes obstruction, cordial [palatable] and clears belching.

तैक्ष्ण्यादौष्ण्याद्व्यवायित्वाद्दीपनंशूलनाशनम्। ऊर्ध्वंचाधश्चवातानामानुलोम्यकरंबिडम् ॥३०२॥
Bida salt being sharp, hot, and diffusive, stimulates digestion, is effective in treating colicky pain and regulates the upward and downward courses of vata.

सतिक्तकटुसक्षारंतीक्ष्णमुत्क्लेदिचौद्भिदम्। नकाललवणेगन्धःसौवर्चलगुणाश्चते ॥३०३॥
The efflorescent (audbhida) salt is slightly bitter, pungent, slightly alkaline, sharp and liquefacient. kalabag rock-salt has no smell. Its qualities are similar to those of sanchal salt.

सामुद्रकंसमधुरं, सतिक्तंकटुपांशुजम्। रोचनंलवणंसर्वंपाकिस्रंस्यनिलापहम् ॥३०४॥
The sea-salt is slightly sweet while the earth-salt is slightly bitter and pungent. All salts are appetizing, digestive, laxative and are effective in treating vata.

हृत्पाण्डुग्रहणीरोगप्लीहानाहगलग्रहान्। कासंकफजमर्शांसियावशूकोव्यपोहति ॥३०५॥
Yavakshara (barley alkali) is effective in treating diseases of the heart, anaemia, assimilation disorders, spleenic disorders, constipation, throat-spasm, cough of the kapha type and piles.
