वृष्टिं करोत्यवृष्ट्यां वृष्टिं वृष्ट्यां निवारयत्यैन्द्र्याम् । पश्चात्सदैव वृष्टिं कुलिशभृतश्चापं आचष्टे ॥ ३५-०६ ॥

If the rainbow (indrāyudha) should appear when there is no rain, there will be rain, and if while it rains, the rain will cease. If it should appear in the west, there will also be rain.

vRSTiM karotyavRSTyAM vRSTiM vRSTyAM nivArayatyaindryAm । pazcAtsadaiva vRSTiM kulizabhRtazcApaM AcaSTe ॥ 35-06 ॥

चापं मघोनः कुरुते निशायाम् आखण्डलायां दिशि भूपपीडाम् । याम्यापरौदक्प्रभवं निहन्यात् सेनापतिं नायकमन्त्रिणौ च ॥ ३५-०७ ॥

If at night the rainbow should be seen in the east, kings will suffer; if in the south, the commander-in-chief will die; if in the west, masters will suffer; and if in the north, ministers will suffer.

cApaM maghonaH kurute nizAyAm AkhaNDalAyAM dizi bhUpapIDAm । yAmyAparaudakprabhavaM nihanyAt senApatiM nAyakamantriNau ca ॥ 35-07 ॥

निशि सुरचापं सितवर्णाद्यं जनयति पीडां द्विजपूर्वाणाम् । भवति च यस्यां दिशि तद्देश्यं नरपतिमुख्यं नचिराद्धन्यात् ॥ ३५-०८ ॥

If, at night, the rainbow should appear white, red, yellow or black, the Brāhmaṇas, the Kṣatriyas, the Vaiśyas and the Śūdras will suffer respectively. If at night the rainbow should appear in particular quarters of the sky, the rulers in those quarters of the Earth will perish.
