यद्येको यदि बहवः किं अनेन फलं तु सर्वथा वाच्यम् । उदयास्तमयैः स्थानैः स्पर्शैराधूमनैर्वर्णैः । ११-०६ ॥
Whether there is one Ketu or many, the effects to be described are various and these effects depend on their reappearance or disappearance (at particular times and places), their positions, the heavenly bodies with which they might appear to be in contact and on their colours.
english translation
yadyeko yadi bahavaH kiM anena phalaM tu sarvathA vAcyam । udayAstamayaiH sthAnaiH sparzairAdhUmanairvarNaiH । 11-06 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयावन्त्यहानि दृश्यो मासास्तावन्त एव फलपाकः । मासैरब्दांश्च वदेत्प्रथमात्पक्षत्रयात्परतः ॥ ११-०७ ॥
The effects will last for as many months as the number of days during which the Ketus continue to be visible; if visible for months, the effects will last for years. The effects will commence after three weeks from such appearances.

yAvantyahAni dRzyo mAsAstAvanta eva phalapAkaH । mAsairabdAMzca vadetprathamAtpakSatrayAtparataH ॥ 11-07 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptह्रस्वस्तनुः प्रसन्नः स्निग्धस्त्वृजुरचिरसंस्थितः शुक्लः । उदितो अथ वाअभिवृष्टः सुभिक्षसौख्यावहः केतुः ॥ ११-०८ ॥
Generally, if the luminous body or comet be small, clear, glossy, straight, transient, white and visible either immediately after their appearance or some time afterwards, there will be health and happiness in the land.

hrasvastanuH prasannaH snigdhastvRjuracirasaMsthitaH zuklaH । udito atha vAabhivRSTaH subhikSasaukhyAvahaH ketuH ॥ 11-08 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउक्तविपरीतरूपो न शुभकरो धूमकेतुरुत्पन्नः । इन्द्रायुधानुकारी विशेषतो द्वित्रिचूलो वा ॥ ११-०९ ॥
If it be the opposite of these, or of the shape of the rainbow or with two or three tails, mankind will not be happy.

uktaviparItarUpo na zubhakaro dhUmaketurutpannaH । indrAyudhAnukArI vizeSato dvitricUlo vA ॥ 11-09 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptहारमणिहेमरूपाः किरणऽख्याः पञ्चविंशतिः सशिखाः । प्रागपरदिशोर्दृश्या नृपतिविरोधावहा रविजाः ॥ ११-१० ॥
The Ketus or comets that resemble garlands, gems and gold are named Kiraṇa Ketus and are 25 in number; they have tails and appear in the east and in the west; they are the sons of the Sun, and when they appear, princes will begin to be at strife.
