Astanga Hrudaya
अपस्तम्भावुरःपार्श्वे नाड्यावनिलवाहिनी। रक्तेन पूर्णकोष्ठोऽत्र श्वासात्कासाच्च नश्यति॥१५॥
On either side of the chest (trachea) are the two tubes which carry air, known as apastambha. Injury to these causes death from accumulation of blood inside the chest, cough, and dyspnoea.
