गम्भीरानुगतं श्लक्ष्णमतिर्यग्विसृतं च यत् । गृहीत्वा विसृजेत् काष्ठं त्वचं शुष्कां निधापयेत् ॥६ ॥

sanskrit

The roots which are deep inside, smooth, not spread side wards should be gathered. The bark of the root is collected and the pith (of the root) / stem is discarded. The bark is then dried and preserved.

english translation

gambhIrAnugataM zlakSNamatiryagvisRtaM ca yat । gRhItvA visRjet kASThaM tvacaM zuSkAM nidhApayet ॥6 ॥
