कफानुबन्धे पवने कुर्यात् कफहरां क्रियाम् । पित्तानुबन्धयोर्वातकफयोः पित्तनाशिनीम् ॥ ७१ ॥
When Vata is associated with Kapha as the secondary (following) Dosha, anti-Kapha treatments should be performed. When both Vata and Kapha are associated with Pitta as the secondary Dosha, then anti-Pitta treatments should be administered.

वातश्लेष्मात्मके शुष्के स्निग्धमार्द्रे विरूक्षणम् । कासे कर्म सपित्ते तु कफजे तिक्तसंयुतम् ॥ ७२ ॥
When a cough originates from Vata and Kapha and is dry, the treatment should be predominantly unctuous (oleation/snigdha). When the cough is moist (productive with sputum), a drying (rukshana) treatment should be given. In a Kaphaja cough that is associated with Pitta, therapeutic measures should be applied using herbs that possess a bitter (tikta) taste.

उरस्यन्तःक्षते सद्यो लाक्षां क्षौद्रयुतां पिबेत् । क्षीरेण शालीन्जीर्णेऽद्यात् क्षीरेणैव सशर्करान् ॥ ७३ ॥
If there is an injury inside the chest (lungs), then Laccifer lacca (lac) mixed with honey should be consumed with milk immediately. After it gets digested, the patient should eat cooked Shali rice along with milk and sugar.

पार्श्वबस्तिसरुक् चाल्पपित्ताग्निस्तां सुरायुताम् । भिन्नविट्कः समुस्तातिविषापाठां सवत्सकाम् ॥ ७४ ॥
If the patient experiences pain in the flanks and the region of the urinary bladder, and has a mild increase of Pitta and low digestive fire, they should consume that Laccifer lacca remedy along with Sura (alcohol). If the patient complains of loose stools, the Laccifer lacca remedy should be consumed along with Cyperus rotundus, Aconitum heterophyllum, Cissampelos pareira, and Holarrhena antidysenterica.

लाक्षां सर्पिर्मधूच्छिष्टं जीवनीयं गणं सिताम् । त्वक्क्षीरीं समितं क्षीरे पक्त्वा दीप्तानलः पिबेत् ॥ ७५ ॥
Laccifer lacca, ghee, Madhucchista (bee wax), herbs of Jivaniya (chapter 15 of Sutrasthana), sugar, Bambusa bambos, Triticum aestivum cooked in milk should be consumed by the patient who has strong digestion strength.
