Arthashastra
पर सस्य अपहारिणः पञ्चाशद् गुणः सीता अत्ययः, स्व वर्गस्य, बाह्यस्य तु वधः ॥
and whoever steals the crops of another person shall pay a fine of fifty times the amount, provided the robber belongs to the same community (svavarga); but if he is a foreigner, he shall be put to death.
english translation
para sasya apahAriNaH paJcAzad guNaH sItA atyayaH, sva vargasya, bAhyasya tu vadhaH ॥
