"द्वैराज्य वैराज्ययोर् द्वैराज्यम् अन्योन्य पक्ष द्वेष अनुरागाभ्यां परस्पर संघर्षेण वा विनश्यति, वैराज्यं तु प्रकृति चित्त ग्रहण अपेक्षि यथा स्थितम् अन्यैर् भुज्यते" इत्य् आचार्याः ॥

Of divided rule and foreign rule, divided rule or rule of a country by two kings, perishes owing to mutual hatred, partiality and rivalry. Foreign rule which comes into existence by seizing the country from its king still alive, thinks that the country is not its own, impoverishes it, and carries off its wealth, or treats it as a commercial article

english translation

"dvairAjya vairAjyayor dvairAjyam anyonya pakSa dveSa anurAgAbhyAM paraspara saMgharSeNa vA vinazyati, vairAjyaM tu prakRti citta grahaNa apekSi yathA sthitam anyair bhujyate" ity AcAryAH ॥
