हीनम् अनुहन्यात्, न त्व् एव स्व भूमि प्राप्तं त्यक्त आत्मानं वा ॥
and if the enemy's army is inferior, he should attempt to destroy it, but not that which has secured a favourable position and is reckless of life.
english translation
hInam anuhanyAt, na tv eva sva bhUmi prAptaM tyakta AtmAnaM vA ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपुनर् आवर्तमानस्य निराशस्य च जीविते । अधार्यो जायते वेगस् तस्माद् भग्नं न पीडयेत् ॥
When a broken army, reckless of life, resumes its attack, its fury becomes irresistible; hence he should not harass a broken army (of the enemy).
english translation
punar AvartamAnasya nirAzasya ca jIvite । adhAryo jAyate vegas tasmAd bhagnaM na pIDayet ॥
