विजय युक्ताः स्वर्गीयाश् च आशिषो वाचयेत् ॥
and cause prayers to be offered for the good of the victors as well as of those who attain to heaven by dying in the battle-field.

ब्राह्मणेभ्यश् च आत्मानम् अतिसृजेत् ॥
He should also submit his person to Bráhmans;

शौर्य शिल्प अभिजन अनुराग युक्तम् अर्थ मानाभ्याम् अविसंवादितम् अनीक गर्भं कुर्वीत ॥
he should make the central portion of his army consist of such men as are noted for their bravery, skill, high birth, and loyalty and as are not displeased with the rewards and honours bestowed on them.

पितृ पुत्र भ्रातृकाणाम् आयुधीयानाम् अध्वजं मुण्ड अनीकं राज स्थानम् ॥
The place that is to be occupied by the king is that portion of the army which is composed of his father, sons, brothers, and other men, skilled in using weapons, and having no flags and head-dress.

हस्ती रथो वा राज वाहनम् अश्व अनुबन्धः ॥
He should mount an elephant or a chariot, if the army consists mostly of horses.
