कृत अर्थाच् च स अपदेशम् अपस्रावयेत् ॥
When the ally has finished his work, he should, under some excuse, try to get back his army.
english translation
kRta arthAc ca sa apadezam apasrAvayet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदूष्य अमित्र अटवी दण्डं वा अस्मै दद्यात् ॥
or he may send to his ally that army which is composed of traitors, enemies, and wild tribes.

dUSya amitra aTavI daNDaM vA asmai dadyAt ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयातव्येन वा संधाय एनम् अतिसंदध्यात् ॥
or having made peace with the ally's assailable enemy, he may deceive the ally.

yAtavyena vA saMdhAya enam atisaMdadhyAt ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसमे हि लाभे संधिः स्याद् विषमे विक्रमो मतः ॥ सम हीन विशिष्टानाम् इत्य् उक्ताः संधि विक्रमाः ॥
When the profit accruing to kings under an agreement, whether they be of equal, inferior, or superior power, is equal to all, that agreement is termed peace (sandhi); when unequal, it is termed defeat (vikrama). Such is the nature of peace and war.
