स्व विषयस्थो वा न उपगच्छेत् ॥

or if he is in his own territory, he should not go to see his suffering enemy.

or if he is near to his enemy, he may murder the enemy when opportunity affords itself.

बलीयसोर् वा मध्य गतस् त्राण समर्थम् आश्रयेत, यस्य वा अन्तर्धिः स्यात्, उभौ वा ॥

A king who is situated between two powerful kings shall seek protection from the stronger of the two; or from one of them on whom he can rely. or he may make peace with both of them on equal terms.

कपाल संश्रयस् तिष्ठेत्, मूल हरम् इतरस्य इतरम् अपदिशन् ॥

Then he may begin to set one of them against the other by telling each that the other is a tyrant causing utter ruin to himself, and thus cause dissension between them.
