having observed the conditions conducive to peace between himself and his enemy, he may make peace.

saMdheyatAm AtmanaH parasya ca upalabhya saMdadhIta ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविपर्यये विक्रमेण संधिम् अपसारं वा लिप्सेत ॥
in the absence of such conditions, he may, by taking recourse to threats secure peace or a friend.

viparyaye vikrameNa saMdhim apasAraM vA lipseta ॥

or he may send a messenger to one who is likely to accept peace.

saMdheyasya vA dUtaM preSayet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेन वा प्रेषितम् अर्थ मानाभ्यां सत्कृत्य ब्रूयात् "इदं राज्ञः पण्य अगारम्, इदं देवी कुमाराणाम्, देवी कुमार वचनात्, इदं राज्यम् अहं च त्वद् अर्पणः" इति ॥
or having pleased with wealth and honour the messenger sent by his enemy, he may tell the latter: "This is the king's manufactory; this is the residence of the queen and the princes; myself and this kingdom are at your disposal, as approved of by the queen and the princes."

tena vA preSitam artha mAnAbhyAM satkRtya brUyAt "idaM rAjJaH paNya agAram, idaM devI kumArANAm, devI kumAra vacanAt, idaM rAjyam ahaM ca tvad arpaNaH" iti ॥
