सार भाण्डम् इत्य् असार भाण्डं तज् जातम् इत्य् अतज् जातं राधा युक्तम् इत्य् उपधियुक्तं समुद्ग परिवर्तिमं वा विक्रय आधानं नयतो हीन मूल्यं चतुष्पञ्चाशत् पणो दण्डः, पण मूल्यं द्वि गुणो, द्वि पण मूल्यं द्वि शतः ॥
When a trader sells or mortgages inferior as superior commodities, articles of some other locality, as the produce of a particular locality, adulterated things, or deceitful mixtures, or when he dexterously substitutes other articles for those just sold (samutparivartimam), he shall not only be punished with a fine of 54 panas but also be compelled to make good the loss. By making the fine two panas for the loss of the value of a pana, and 200 panas for that of 100

sAra bhANDam ity asAra bhANDaM taj jAtam ity ataj jAtaM rAdhA yuktam ity upadhiyuktaM samudga parivartimaM vA vikraya AdhAnaM nayato hIna mUlyaM catuSpaJcAzat paNo daNDaH, paNa mUlyaM dvi guNo, dvi paNa mUlyaM dvi zataH ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptकारु शिल्पिनां कर्म गुण अपकर्षम् आजीवं विक्रय क्रय उपघातं वा सम्भूय समुत्थापयतां सहस्रं दण्डः ॥
Those who conspire to lower the quality of the works of artisans, to hinder their income, or to obstruct their sale or purchase shall be fined thousand panas.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptवैदेहकानां वा सम्भूय पण्यम् अवरुन्धताम् अनर्घेण विक्रीणतां वा सहस्रं दण्डः ॥
Merchants who conspire either to prevent the sale of merchandise or to sell or purchase commodities at higher prices shall be fined 1,000 panas.

vaidehakAnAM vA sambhUya paNyam avarundhatAm anargheNa vikrINatAM vA sahasraM daNDaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतुला मान अन्तरम् अर्घ वर्ण अन्तरं वा धरकस्य मायकस्य वा पण मूल्याद् अष्ट भागं हस्त दोषेण आचरतो द्वि शतो दण्डः ॥
Middlemen who cause to a merchant or a purchaser the loss of ⅛th of a pana by substituting with tricks of hand false weights or measures or other kinds of inferior articles shall be punished with a fine of 200 panas.
