नगर अभ्याशे वा चैत्यम् आरुह्य रात्रौ तीक्ष्णाः कुम्भेषु नालीन् वा विदुलानि धमन्तः "स्वामिनो मुख्यानां वा मांसानि भक्षयिष्यामः, पूजा नो वर्तताम्" इत्य् अव्यक्तं ब्रूयुः ॥
Getting into an altar at night in the vicinity of the capital city of the enemy and blowing through tubes or hollow reeds the fire contained in a few pots, some fiery spies may shout aloud: "We are going to eat the flesh of the king or of his ministers; let the worship of the gods go on."
english translation
nagara abhyAze vA caityam Aruhya rAtrau tIkSNAH kumbheSu nAlIn vA vidulAni dhamantaH "svAmino mukhyAnAM vA mAMsAni bhakSayiSyAmaH, pUjA no vartatAm" ity avyaktaM brUyuH ॥

Spies, under the guise of sooth-sayers and horologists may spread the news abroad.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptमङ्गल्ये वा ह्रदे तटाक मध्ये वा रात्रौ तेजन तैल अभ्यक्ता नाग रूपिणः शक्ति मुसलान्य् अयोमयानि निष्पेषयन्तस् तथैव ब्रूयुः ॥
Spies, disguised as Nagas (snake-gods and with their body besmeared with burning oil (tejánataila), may stand in the centre of a sacred pool of water or of a lake at night, and sharpening their iron swords or spikes, may shout aloud as before.
english translation
maGgalye vA hrade taTAka madhye vA rAtrau tejana taila abhyaktA nAga rUpiNaH zakti musalAny ayomayAni niSpeSayantas tathaiva brUyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptऋक्ष चर्म कञ्चुकिनो वा अग्नि धूम उत्सर्ग युक्ता रक्षो रूपं वहन्तस् त्रिर् अपसव्यं नगरं कुर्वाणाः श्व सृगाल वाशित अन्तरेषु तथैव ब्रूयुः ॥
Spies, wearing coats formed of the skins of bears and sending out volumes of smoke from their mouth, may pretend to be demons, and after circumambulating the city thrice from right to left, may shout aloud as before at a place full of the horrid noise of antelopes and jackals.

RkSa carma kaJcukino vA agni dhUma utsarga yuktA rakSo rUpaM vahantas trir apasavyaM nagaraM kurvANAH zva sRgAla vAzita antareSu tathaiva brUyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचैत्य दैवत प्रतिमां वा तेजन तैलेन अभ्र पटलच् छन्नेन अग्निना वा रात्रौ प्रज्वाल्य तथैव ब्रूयुः ॥
or spies may set fire to an altar or an image of a god covered with a layer of mica besmeared with burning oil at night, and shout aloud as before.
english translation
caitya daivata pratimAM vA tejana tailena abhra paTalac channena agninA vA rAtrau prajvAlya tathaiva brUyuH ॥
