अवस्करं भ्रमम् उद पानं वा न गृह उचिताद् अन्यत्र, अन्यत्र सूतिका कूपाद् आ निर्दश अहाद् इति ॥
Except in the case of temporary structures for the confinement of women for ten days, all permanent houses shall be provided with a dunghill (avaskara), water course (bhrama), and a well (udapánum).

तस्य अतिक्रमे पूर्वः साहस दण्डः ॥

तेन इन्धनावघातन कृतं कल्याण कृत्येष्व् आचाम उदक मार्गाश् च व्याख्याताः ॥
The same rule shall hold good regarding the necessity of constructing closets, pits and water courses on festive occasions.

त्रिपदी प्रतिक्रान्तम् अध्यर्धम् अरत्निं वा गाढ प्रसृतम् उदक मार्गं प्रस्रवण प्रपातं वा कारयेत् ॥
From each house a water course of sufficient slope and 3 padas or 11 aratnis long shal1 be so constructed that water shall either flow from it in a continuous line or fall from it (into the drain).

तस्य अतिक्रमे चतुष् पञ्चाशत् पणो दण्डः ॥
Violation of this rule shall be punished with a fine of 54 panas.
