देशस्य जात्याः संघस्य धर्मो ग्रामस्य वा अपि यः । उचितस् तस्य तेन एव दाय धर्मं प्रकल्पयेत् ॥

Partition of inheritance shall be made in accordance with the customs prevalent in the country, caste, guild (sangha), or the village of the inheritors.

english translation

dezasya jAtyAH saMghasya dharmo grAmasya vA api yaH । ucitas tasya tena eva dAya dharmaM prakalpayet ॥
