Arthashastra
पर विषयाद् वा विक्रमेण आनीतं यथा प्रदिष्टं राज्ञा भुञ्जीत, अन्यत्र आर्य प्राणेभ्यो देव ब्राह्मण तपस्वि द्रव्येभ्यश् च ॥ इत्य् अस्वामि विक्रयः ।
An adventurer may enjoy whatever the king graciously gives him out of the booty he has plundered from an enemy's country, excepting the life of an Arya and the property belonging to gods, Bráhmans or ascetics. Thus sale without ownership is dealt with.

para viSayAd vA vikrameNa AnItaM yathA pradiSTaM rAjJA bhuJjIta, anyatra Arya prANebhyo deva brAhmaNa tapasvi dravyebhyaz ca ॥ ity asvAmi vikrayaH ।
