Arthashastra
सार्थेन अन्वाधि हस्तो वा प्रदिष्टां भूमिम् अप्राप्तश् चोरैर् भग्न उत्सृष्टो वा न अन्वाधिम् अभ्यावहेत् ॥
If, through a merchant, a messenger is entrusted with a property for delivery to a third person (anvádhihasta) and such messenger does not reach the destined place, or is robbed of the property by thieves, the merchant shall not be responsible for it.
