Arthashastra
पीलुमयो मणिर् अग्नि गर्भः सुवर्चला मूल ग्रन्थिः सूत्र ग्रन्थिर् वा पिचु परिवेष्टितो मुख्याद् अग्नि धूम उत्सर्गः ॥
By keeping in the mouth a ball-like piece of pilu (careya arberea) or a knot of the root of linseed tree (suvarchala) with fire inserted within the mass of the ball and wound round with threads and cotton (pichu), volumes of smoke and fire can be breathed out.
english translation
pIlumayo maNir agni garbhaH suvarcalA mUla granthiH sUtra granthir vA picu pariveSTito mukhyAd agni dhUma utsargaH ॥
